Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Search terms entered in a search box are sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider handles the query and returns its results. Alabama Court Docket does not store or log the name or case number typed into the partner search field.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is retained so we can respond. Messages are kept within our organization and are not shared beyond it unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server receives technical details about that visit, which may include:
- The pages opened and the time spent on them
- Your device and operating system
- The referring website, if one was recorded
- The browser and its version
- A timestamp for each page view
- The IP address used to reach the site
Cookies and Analytics
Small cookie files stored on your device help measure how visitors move through the site, including which pages draw more visits and where sessions end. Analytics providers aggregate those traffic patterns. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may work differently afterward.
What We Do With This Data
- Reviewing which pages visitors find useful
- Keeping the website available and responsive
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing search entries to the selected partner tool
- Finding and correcting technical problems
No Court-Record Data on File
Alabama Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of dockets or personal case information. It provides general directions to the Alabama trial search, appellate Public Portal, and local clerks that keep official files. Circuit Clerks hold Circuit and District records, while Probate and municipal courts keep separate records. Visitor data collected through this website is not assembled into reports or profiles about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is handled under each provider's privacy policy. The provider decides how long it keeps data and whether it shares it; Alabama Court Docket does not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links from these pages lead to county clerks, Alabama court portals, legal aid organizations, and outside search services. Once a link opens, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before sharing personal information there.
Some advertising partners may use activity across websites to select ads. That tracking is managed through their own systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be provided to:
- Government authorities when a valid legal demand requires disclosure
- Analytics companies measuring site traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
- Search providers that process a visitor's query
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect information collected through the website. Internet systems cannot be guaranteed free from attack or failure, so Alabama Court Docket cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
Alabama Court Docket is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal details from anyone under 18. If a minor's information was sent to us, contact us so we can take steps to remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Alabama's public-records law, Ala. Code §36-12-40, concerns inspection and copying of public writings. Its judicial-branch exception means court records follow a separate framework. The Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality govern public access, sealing, and redaction for court files; these public-record rules do not describe visitor information held by this private website. You may still ask us to:
- Request deletion of information we hold about you
- Ask for a copy of your information on file
- Opt out of certain data processing
- Request a correction to inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
Our privacy practices may change. Any revision will be posted here with a new effective date. Review this policy again to see how information is handled.
